Legislative Update May 1, 2009

HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF SW COLORADO

The CAHB has done a fabulous job this legislative session working on your behalf at the state level. Below is the latest report.

Counting today there are only four working days left in the 2009 legislative session. I’m pleased to report that several bills we’ve been fighting died this week. HB-1284 which would have provided that state more authority over local land use decisions died on the Senate floor last night. HB-1327 which would have made it more difficult to establish and utilize Urban Redevelopment Authorities met a similar fate. Earlier in the week, HB-1354, which would have required builders of single-family homes to offer the option of residential wind turbines on all new homes, was killed by the bill’s sponsor after it became apparent that she did not have the votes to pass the measure. We’ll provide you a full wrap-up following the conclusion of the session.
